    Darkness Never Sleeps. (flash fiction)

I remember being afraid of the dark, all curled up in my bed with the covers pulled over my head, and I remember watching my closet, waiting for something to come out and eat me. Those days never really left me, not even as an adult at the age of nineteen. The dark gives no mercy except when the light banishes it into hiding. Even then I get that sense of vulnerability, the discomfort that rears its ugly head every time I enter a dark alley way. My parents seem to think I’m crazy for having such childish fears of monsters in the closet and the boogie man under my bed. I never stopped believing in the monsters under my bed, and you should do the same.

The time talking with you is growing short. So I will tell you how to prepare yourself. First off the monsters like to feed off of your fear, and it will stop at nothing to get a good scare out of you. They hide under the beds of all kids, and in my case they hide in the cabinet at the head of my bed. The key to destroy the monsters that lurk is only available to the children I’m afraid. Those of you that are adults and know you have them living with you, don’t sleep whatever you do, don’t sleep.

I have a few more things to tell you before I fall asleep, and lose my life tonight. Remember the important thing about the monsters. Darkness Never Sleeps. You should start building the forts you used to build on those rainy days, and keep a flashlight nearby. Goodnight to all, and don’t forget the nightlight…

Have you been watching Monsters Inc. again?

    I think you mean vulnerability.

Fun read, you tempt me into trying my own hand at this genre.

This is a quick and fun read. But I'm afraid my time in typing in a response is running short as well. Seriously, that line hooked me. I have some very slight issues with tenses, as I prefer reading a story having only one consistent tense. Nevertheless, a good read.

Oh, and one thing I noticed:

You should start building the forts you used to build on those rainy days,
    Fixed it for you.

Thank you for the critique, and I will work on my tense. I'm working a new style of writing, and it's pretty complicated...
