No Sleep For A Hunter.

Hunter series

By: Forgotten Abyss

NOTE: Hope I edited it okay, it feels good to start writing again. Peace. Hope you enjoy.

The gate opened right in the middle of my bed room, dark energies erupted out of the opening and ripped apart my stuff without remorse, then an eight foot demon that was mostly made up of teeth and muscle roared at me, and reached out with its massive talons to rip me apart with its bare claws.

But that didn't make me mad, what pissed me off was that they woke me up making all the damn racket.

I grabbed the small hammer I kept under my pillow, and threw it as hard as I could. The hammer soared, following end over end, until it finally struck the bastard in one of its eight eyes, completely destroying it. It screamed and clawed at the hole in its head, and rampaged around my room ruining even more of my stuff. What a cry baby, it's just an eye.

I got up and looked around, and shivered as a cold draft out of the window I left open hit me, almost everything was destroyed in the room, and the demon was blocking the door to get out of my room, to my equipment. I looked around for anything that could get me out of this mess, and then I saw the bed sheets around me. Perfect.

I hurriedly grabbed the cheap cotton sheets, and wrapped them around myself. I backed up to the cold stone wall, then I ran and jumped, landing at an angle to my wood floor just as the demon regained control of itself and smashed my bed to bits. I slid across the floor, right under the bastards' legs. And when I hit the door lightly as my mountium was used up, I quickly got up and kicked down the door.

Well, I guess I could have opened it nicely, but it seemed way cooler that way.

I jumped over my poor downed door, landing on my ass of course, why can't bad beasties attack me when I've had a good night's sleep?

The demon spun around, and charged after me, but a blue shield flared and the beast bounced off it, landing on its ass. At least some of my defenses were working. It was a standard defense spell, that prevideted anything without my invitation from getting in or out of the space I marked within my house. I was pretty pleased with myself, until the demon got back up, and almost knocked down the shield with its bare fists. Time to run.

I stared around my living room, a small humble place which was mostly dominated by shelves of books, and the kitchen. Four doors, one led outside, one led to my library (Yes, more books.), another led to my summoning chamber, and the other one led to my collection of bad beastie-smiting weapons. I ran, and reached the door just as the demon ripped through my invitation shield.

I quickly opened the door, and ran through it. I felt a warm fuzzy feeling in my stomach as I passed through the door. And a smile crept onto my face, poor demon bastard. I quickly slammed the door; I hoped it would make the demon a little ignorant, I hoped that it was thinking of how desperate I was being to separate myself from it by closing a door ir could break through. It seemed to take the bait as it roared almost lion-like. And I heard it run for the door.

But unfortunately for the demon, my armory was just a tad better protected then my bed room. And as my door sensed a foreign, violent entity touching it, it unleashed a trick I gave it, and sent a bolt of blue fire into the monsters face. I turned away, apart from a pretty light show, there was not much too watch as the demon simply evaporated into nothingness. But I highly doubted that was the only one.

My armory was actually, quite sadly, bigger then my living room and bed room combined. On the wall hanged glass cases that stored individual weapons, most were ornately carved pretty things, but I wasn't looking for a weapon just yet. What's the point of a big badass weapon with you when your killed before you could use it? I flipped on the light switch, the main rooms light turned on including the weapon cases built in lights. But what I wanted was at the very back of the room, in a simple chest that people used to fill up with clothes and such.

I ran over to it, and spoke the password I set on the box "Pikachu", the box let out a sigh of satisfaction and opened itself. I grabbed the sole occupant of the chest, a simple necklace, which hung a case that had a picture in it, but I careful ignored the picture, and put the necklace on. Then I spoke to it.

"Suit me up, Dan."

I felt something stir in the picture frame, and the demon that I captured many years ago yawned into my mind.

So early for you Master, are we working graveyard shift now, as well as during the day? Asked Dan, in his always sarcastic tone.

"Shut up Dan. There're some of your friends here, and I'm about to be the midnight snack."

How did this happen? I would say you didn't invite them in, no one's, not even you, that stupid.

"Har, har. Anyone tell you that you're not very funny?"

Everyone's a critic.

"Like I care. They opened a gate right in my bed room, sent a big one through. Caused a lot of damage."

Send them the repair bill. But a gate right in your own house? I knew you were incompetent Master, but this is a new low for you.

I heard another roar coming from my bedroom.

"Shut the hell up, and be useful."

Hey, don't make fun of a demons home like that.

I felt Dan focusing his power, and used one of his many useful powers. I felt warm steel forming around my body, and shaped itself into the fabled armor of Naz'Legith, one of the most powerful piece of armor forged by one of the mighty Demon Lords of the Never-Realm, it was built from one of the strongest pieces of metal in all of existence, never-metal, which increases my strength, agility, and made me as strong as most of the baddies out there. Of course it was wimpy on a human, since it was built for a mighty Demon Lord, but it did the job.

"Night Vision."

At your wish.

Then suddenly, thanks to the armors helmet I could now see in the dark as if it was daylight in my house. Pretty awesome if you ask me, which no one does.

"I need a weapon." I said in a deep, manly voice.

Dan sighed. You play way to many video games.

I closed the chest, then placed my hand on the chest, and spoke another password. "Agumon."

Everyone knows Pokémon are better than Digimon, Master.

"Everyone's a idiot, Dan."

The chest sighed, and opened itself again. Inside this when it opened, it opened another pocket of space which I kept my important stuff in. I had about seven total possible spaces I could hold in this chest, and each one was held something. This one held my preferred weapon of choice. I pulled out a large, shining, marble (Or at least a white metal, I never did know what it was made out of.) hammer. The head was ornately carved, with runes in Angelic script, with what looked like stain glass pictures of angels slaying demons by the hundreds.

The head was double-headed, and trimmed in gold. The name of the hammer was Uriel, or, at least the angel that I bound to the hammer was called Uriel.

A mighty, loud voice broke the silence of my mind, screaming in a battle-rage. Another battle do we march too, in the name of the Lord and all of his perfect creations!

That's Uriel. Ain't he charming?

Oh God, not him. Whined Dan.

Silence vile hellspawn! You're not worthy of speaking His name! Yelled Uriel.

"Oh shut up both of you. We've got bubble gum to chew, and asses to kick...And I'm all outta bubble gum."

Please, Master. Can I just go back to sleep while you die? Asked Dan.

To battle I run! Death to the enemies of the Lord! Hollered Uriel.

"First off, you can't run Uriel, you're a freaking hammer. And second, shut up Dan."

Yes! Silence demon!

Dan sighed again. Whatever you wish Master.

"Then let's kick ass!"

I exited the door out of my armory, into my living room, and was surprised to find three more of the same type of demons waiting for me. Smart bastards knew they couldn't get past my armories protection until they used up its charge, and we're just going to outlast me in my own damn house. But that did tell me something, something smart was controlling them.

Probably Oulgalust, he controls most of Trobs. Commented Dan.

Burn! Kill! Smash! Yelled Uriel.

And for once tonight, I charged at the demons. Hammer held before me as I yelled my own war cry to join Uriel's. The demons were stunned that I would do that, and by the time I recovered I was among them.
I swung my uber-powerful hammer, which was augmented by the super-human strength that my armor granted me, in a large arc knocking the demons on their backs. I jumped on one and smashed it with the face of one of the hammers. I pounded away until all that was left of it was blood and slime. Then I felt one of the demons grab me, and was about to throw me away.

"Spikes!"

At my command Dan reformed the armors shape, and then nice pointy spikes popped out down the length of my armor. The demon howled in pain, and let go of me. I spun around, and smashed the demon in the face, knocking its head off. And I pounded that demon to ooze as well.

The other demon got on its feet, and started circling me. And I did as well. For a few minutes we sized each other up, before I threw Uriel at it. The demon laughed at me, and dodged, damn it must have expected that. But no problem.

Uriel stopped in mid-air, and started flying in the direction of the demon. Can't beat having a sentient badass hammer. The demon was so stunned at Uriel's sudden change in direction, and was quickly beaten into a pulp.
After several more seconds of unnesseray beatings of the ooze from Uriel, the hammer flew back over to me.

Ah! The taste of fresh demon blood cannot be beat! Exclaimed Uriel.

I ignored Uriel, but he did reminded me of something...

"Hey, Dan. Do we need more Zeta-Trob blood?"

We are running low Master, but none of those were of the Zeta breed.

"Then it's time to go hunting."

I walked through the Trob ooze that spread across my once nice living room, and into my bedroom. Wow, it looked bad before hand, now it looked like Satan himself was just here. This was going to cost so much to repair. But I turned by attention to the gate, that was actually pretty close to where the door that was once there before I kicked it down. I walked over and stood in front of it.

I could see the ruined, desert-like landscape that was one of the many levels of the Never-Realm. Across it stood hundreds of Trobs, and bigger Trobs of the Zeta breed. They all just stared at me, fear in their eyes as they saw me there. I have a reputations with the folks in the Never-Realm, I'm known somewhat as the Grim Reaper of demons.

"Why didn't they send them all in?"

Because the demon scum are cowards!

Why don't you listen to Uriel more, he's the brains of the operation.

"Just answer the question Dan."

The gate can only support so many beings in this realm at a time, and without the gate erect then the demons could not survive here for long.

"Can I go through?"

Well, of course, the gate works both...Oh no.

"Oh yes."

To battle! For death and glory!

I took another look at the hundreds of Trobs.

I took a step forward. They took a step back.

I really needed that Zeta Trob blood. And they freaking ruined my house.

I cleared my thorat, and yelled at them. "I am hunter Jezal Roberts, destroyer of both demons and angels. The
enemy of both the None-Father and the All-Father. The enemy of both the None-Realm and the All-Realm. I have a mighty demon, and a powerful angel at my beck and call. I carry the armor of the famed Demon Lord Naz'legith, and you will all die at my hand."

Silence, dead silence.

"Sooooo...Who's next?" I asked all of them.

The Trob's whimpered.

I ran through the gate, both Uriel and Dan screaming in my head for different reasons. Now I had a freaking headache to. Why can't I ever get a good night's sleep?

Woah. One massive sentence. Break it up a bit, you could probably get four or five out of that.

I read and critiqued this far. You need to use more full stops, and less 'and's. I hope my advice was helpful.

Jade M made a good start with this. I'm not even going to try. It needs a lot of work grammatically and I'm just too lazy. Sorry. But, apart from the technical issues, it's a pretty good story with good ideas and an interesting main character. With some work, this could be really entertaining.

How old is the main character? The story makes him sound young, but how young is he?
I agree with the above it needs some work.
Great concept. Great scene and great characters.
I think maybe his battle cry through the gate was a bit too long.
