    CD's for ebooks?

When I first heard of ebooks, I immediately thought of CD's in jackets. I suppose I saw something like that in a library.

But I'm realizing that people sell, acquire, and utillize the files directly.

However, I wonder if there is a place for CD audiobooks in the market. For one thing, they could be sold in stores, where a file can't be stocked.
Are they other advantages to this? Have others used them? Is it worth the trouble?

Heh, I remember seeing ebooks on disks at the library. Mostly the "choose your own adventure" kind.

I agree with your ideas about using CD's. I have done it myself. Two different applications.

At a writers conference in California, I prepared a "syllabus" or "eHandout" for my two workshops, then developed them into ebook manuals. I gave the download files to anybody attending my seminars, but also wanted to sell them at the table for staff books in the lobby. So I burned CD's with an html "splash page" with autorun, the ebooks, some extras like videos and a bio and some ads for other books, packaged them in an attractive paper sleeve and produced a $2 item that sold for $10. I sold out my run of 50.

I also have an ebook novel that I wanted to enter in a trade show/contest and also sell in a alt bookstore in California to test the market. I burned it to a CD (this time with full color printing on the disk) and packaged it in a DVD box with full color wrap-around so it could be sold, given, and stocked on shelves and show title on spine. Cost me about $4 per copy. I wanted to sell it at $9.95 by the store owner convinced me that seeing something in that package would create a buyer expectation of a higher price and they would think the low price meant it was inferior goods. So I put it at $14.95 and sold out the edition of 10. And still thinking that whole thing over.

    Very interesting, thank you.
This is so far down the road it chills me to think about it, but I can see some major possibilities.
There are speciality stores, conferences, and fairs in Seattle and Portland where I think this might be a workable approach.

    eBook and Digital Book.,
An eBook is basically a book on the internet with helpful information. Many times a person can find the information themselves with a little time and effort on their part but with today's society it is easier to pay a little money to get the information. Writing an eBook really is easier than it sounds. eBook is an electronic version of a traditional print book that can be read by using a personal computer or by using an eBook reader. Users can purchase an eBook on diskette or CD, but the most popular method of getting an eBook is to purchase a downloadable file of the eBook from a Web site to be read from the user's computer or reading device. Normally,
an eBook can be downloaded in five minutes or less.
Digital books, sometimes also called electronic books or PDF books, are scanned, digital facsimiles of standard printed, published books. You can think of them as enhanced copies of the actual hard or paperback books we have come to know and love. Digital books are usually far less expensive than their hard or paperback counterparts, and there are hardly ever shipping costs, unless they are delivered on a CD.
