A woman’s place is in the home.
Wimmen don’t need to earn money. Keep ‘em barefoot and pregnant, I say.
Last night on TV there was some rubbish about people sleeping in their cars after being forced out of their homes by rising interest rates (I didn’t watch it). If this is happening they have only themselves to blame. In my day the cost of repaying an average housing loan was approximately 25% of average weekly male earnings, and wimmen stayed home. Today the cost of repaying an average housing loan is still approximately 25% of average weekly male earnings. Interest rates go up, other prices go up, wages go up. So why do wimmen need to work? Clearly they don’t. Keep ‘em home, keep ‘em pregnant.

OX, you're a half-decent humor writer. At least I know I laughed when I read this.
Who says we wimmen AREN'T working when we're at home?
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go lie on the couch and nibble bon-bons. (yeah, right...I'm actually peeling kids off the ceiling, running them through the wash cycle, and tossing them into bed. Anyone who can't make a screaming 30 lb child airborne need not apply).
I'm guessing the average male is going to have a difficult time 'keeping' the average liberated female home (or pregnant) if she doesn't feel like it. There's also the possibility that 'wimmen' like their careers and some aren't all that interested in being 'kept' by anyone, thanks.

The interest rate question is easy...people are buying way over their means.
I'm all for letting the women go work. I'll happily stay home and clean the house and run the errands. That seems to turn most girls off when I tell them that, though.

Prices can rise and wages can fall. Wage rise does not always follow inflation. Honestly, I can't remember if rise in interest rate automatically turns up wages or not... but I'm going to take the immediate guess and say no.
The great danger to any economy is stagflation and not necessarily a rise in inflation. Stagflation is a state of inflation along with a decrease in wages in a nation.
