Paper or Styrofoam?
We just did an in class debate at school, and I was wondering, what do you think?
Do you think paper cups are better, or styrofoam cups?
I say that styrofoam cups are better because they cost less raw materials to make and they are cheaper to buy.

Seriously, is this the best debate we can come up with? Does it really matter?
I'm with Intel: I don't use either.

Paper cups just suck, all you can do is get a few sips out of it. And on the other hand, Styrofoam cups are fun to play with and you can get those few sips also. Ive got to go with Styrofoam on this pointless debate.

This is not a pointless debate; -Neither is good
"Styrofoam is bad for the environment because it does not dissolve. It may stay in the land fill for over 400 years or more. Sometimes the Styrofoam can kill fish and animals in the ocean. The Styrofoam breaks down into little pieces and the wind carries it away to the sea. It floats on the surface of the water and the fish think that it is food so they eat it, this may cause sickness. The fish cannot digest the Styrofoam so they die. Styrofoam can also cause sickness for us. When you drink out of a Styrofoam cup, the Polystyrene (the molecule of Styrofoam) can remove from the cup and dissolve into the liquid that you drink. Even if you drink a small portion of the polystyrene, that can cause fatigue, down-syndrome and even cancer".(Dr Jerry Riemer-Chemical Consultant for the US government)
Paper cups just deplete our natural resources. How many trees can you cut before there are any trees left just so can take a sip of coffee.
But paper cups is the lesser of two evils. We just need stricter controls of harvesting Trees for paper.

But you can only use a paper cup twice before it gets soggy and you have to throw it away.
