Thread: National / World Security

From what I've read here I think I have an idea: We simply eliminate or reduce the amount of males. Those that already exist could have the offending "parts" removed, and any new additions could be culled sometime during the pregnancy process. Naturally, we would have to maintain a few specimens for procreation, but I'm sure the required genetic materials could stored cryogenically or possibly a few 'live" individuals could be safely controlled, using such techniques as "lobotomization", chemically or otherwise, to keep them "fresh".

Um. Similar things were proposed, with the degree of tongue-in-cheek varying, by the two writers that I named a few posts ago. One might also search out RA Lafferty's Parthen and Kate Wilhelm's The Funeral, which are excellent short stories on that subject.
A couple of posts ago, someone asked real nicely if we could get back on-topic. That's a fine idea.
So, about that National Security thing?
I proposed that economics is the driving engine of what is usually considered a military matter-this is due to the large amount of anyone's GDP that gets devoted to the National Defense if one is to have a standing military, and to the policy of embargo as punitive measure which is such a big weapon in the developed nations' quivers.
