    Star Wars > Star Trek

    Discuss.
Let's see if my above post is deleted without explanation. Wouldn't be the first time.

I liked the Star Wars movies more when I was a child.

Which Star Wars do you mean? The originals? The later modified versions? The additionally modified versions on Blu-Ray?

Any version in which Greedo shoots first sucks

    Stars > Wars > Trecks

On a side note, my dad is such a fan that he made me watch SW 1-6 every Saturday afternoon I spent at home.

Apparently Lucas is making a special edition of the Blu-Rays. In this version, not only does Greedo shoot first, he actually shoots himself on accident and Han desperately tries to save him with CPR.

    Stay tuned.

    I vehemently disagree!

We are on the same page. Old ones ftw. What's kinda funny is when I was a kid Return of the Jedi was my fave, but now of the three it's the one I can't stand.

Yeah, I like the first two movies the best (Ep 4 and 5).

I like Star Trek as well, however. I enjoyed the last movie quite a bit.

I've never understood why fanboys have been quick to try and debate the two, since one is a space opera and the other is harder sci fi. They are completely different styles and thus would obviously appeal to different segments.

The question shouldn't be which is better, but which sub-genre of sci fi you enjoy most.

It seems like nerds like them both. I think the nerds who like Star Trek seem to be even bigger nerds, however. But that’s just based on my experience.

Now, before you say anything, I have nothing against nerds. And in fact, some of my best friends are nerds.

EDIT: Now if I was forced at gunpoint to watch one or the other, I'd choose Star Trek -- preferably the old TV show. I liked how the aliens looked just like people, only they would have something like a stripe on their faces or something sticking out of their heads. That was really cool.

Yes -- but in my case, it's absolutely true! My best man was a huge nerd, for example. I even dated a nerd-chick once -- mostly for the homework help, though.

LOL! That's funny! No, really! It is! Especially the part about the homework.

Yeah, that movie had a team of very strong writers behind it. Very hard to fault it in general.

(group of people sitting in a circle)
Man : Hello. My name is Winston. And I'm a Trekkie.
    Group: Hi Winston!

For those of you I haven't seen at the Trekkies Anonymous meetings, here's the deal:

The Star Trek universe is superior. It's based on classical science fiction style, not pseudo spiritual mumbo jumbo. The characters are more believable (even when acted poorly). Star Wars is like some badly drawn Greek tragedy comic book. Star Trek has gotten better over time (exception Enterprise series. I hate you, Scott Bakula). Star Wars has degraded into Happy Meal toy promotions and campy cartoons geared to ten year olds.

Oh. And I would take Uhura or Ensign Rand ANY DAY over Princess Leia. Ewwwwww.
