I admire your writing, but what is your point?

You're right, the poor will always be around. And so will the many who pretend they are not. Didn't Jesus tell that dude to sell all his belongings and give the money to the poor if he wanted to follow Him? How come you left that out? I know about the Oil. Maybe Jesus was in a good mood when he told the lady about the oil.

Truth is, Jesus may have contradicted Himself. He certainly sent out a mixed-message with the two examples (yours and mine). Without question though, He was opposed to the greedy. The greedy weren't high on his list. That is certain.

Jesus wasn't a myth nor an admirer of hypocrites.
First, you and Christians don't talk about the same Jesus, so please preface that. You think of Him as some wise Guru as opposed to God in flesh on earth, an important distinction.

Now, I don't know why you're wondering what Writ's point was, since it was directly in response to your statement about melting down gold to feed the poor. His point was that the clergy are not rich, the operational costs of Vatican City are below standard for cities of that size (or smaller), that the majority of the wealth is due to the cultural value of the buildings and works, and that even if you scraped all the gold off the walls you'd hardly put a dent in the living conditions of the world.

Jesus only sends a mixed message if you have a mixed view of Jesus (check) and difficulty interpreting scripture like a Christian would. (check)

Jesus doesn't think Christians should seek wealth, but making offerings to celebrate and elevate God are acceptable. Thus, you shouldn't be all blinged out walking around the streets, but if you wanted to hold a feast to celebrate Easter, donate a million dollars to build a nicer looking church, or anything else like that, go for it.

    Simple.

Really -- is that the best you can do -- another personal jab? I don't know why these guys bother with you.

Okay, folks step back and consider. If you're making comments about other posters instead of the subject at hand you already know that is not acceptable here. That stops now, no matter who is doing it. Continue and temporary but very mandatory vacations are coming your way.

    Thanks.

OK – I have to say, I like the dark maroon type better than the bright red. It’s more accessible, but still has the no-nonsense look of authority.

The Christians that believe Christ is God in the flesh. I don't know where those other examples you quoted come in.

You should contact an administrator and inform them I can see your personal messages. As far as I know I'm only able to see and respond to posts made in public forums.

I'm not getting into a flame war. I've stated my points-on-point above, admins can explain your behaviour to you.

Before you mock the power of Spirit (Holy Spirit, Great Spirit, God's Energy, etc.), you might want to try reading Matthew 21:18-22 and digest its meaning. The message straight from the mouth of Jesus explains what belief can do to the average person.

We are all made in the image of God. Therefore, we are all His children. What father would give His child a stone if he asks for bread states we are all His sons and daughters. I would guarantee that if you yourself meditated for an hour a day for about a year (maybe much sooner), you would awaken power you never dreamed was within you. But, of course, belief is a requirement. If you believe the Spirit of God (Universal Energy, Holy Ghost, etc.) lies within, you will be capable of doing things that amaze you.

Men and women of science conduct their own experiments. This experiment wouldn't be any different. Of course, if meditation isn't your bag, there is no need to try. But please don't knock or mock what you don't understand. Or what you never before tried. I think that is a reasonable statement.

Belief in God. You seem to be leaving that out. The passage you quote is about how there are believers, those destined to become believers, and those God knows will never believe. Those who will believe in the Word of God are to be cursed, and thrown down to eternal damnation. That is the message of Matthew 21:18-22, not "try yoga, you might like it."

Once again I ask, why are you quoting Scripture? You've chosen to ignore one of the most important messages contained: that Jesus is God on Earth. Why should a Christian entertain any of your interpretations of the Bible when you don't share such a fundamental, core Christian belief?

I do pray daily, although half an hour may be a bit longer than I usually commit. I've been doing it for years. I feel pretty awoken.

I know what an experiment is, and what it entails. I do not believe, unreproducible, anecdotal evidence with no witnesses qualifies as an experiment. Nor even if you were to reproduce your scenario would it necessarily be in reality what your perception of the events leads you to believe. That's another debate, and probably a fruitless one at that due to the non-experiment, anecdotal and unreproducible nature of the event in question.

As you said, it comes down to faith, but just as you mock the Catholic church constantly for their supposed transgressions against Christianity, your ideas are no more sacred in a debate forum. You will be challenged on your disbelief of Christ as God, your views of the church, and your thoughts on OOB experiences and Astral Projection.
