See you then. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go...
While I realize that change is inevitable, I find myself mostly uninterested in these new little iphone devices. Partly this is for practical reasons, like the huge cost of supplying the older family members with contracts for internet and telephone service. Thus far, we have not. I myself use a pay per use cell phone, load it with $100 bucks and that lasts me a really long time, like near a year, because I use the phone to make contact arrangements for the most part. Or conversations with family, which happened mostly when the landline was messing up.
I don't know how to text. First time I ever did was on my husbands company Blackberry and he did most of it. It was awkward and I wanted to say as little as possible, it was taking too long and the movie was about to start. Ack. In fact, my husband just recently made it so I can hear messages on my cell phone... I've had the phone for over a year, geez, maybe two now, and did not care enough to try to get to them. Figured they'd just call back if it were important. I regret it caused a bit of a woops once or twice though. Honestly, I rarely look at my landline messages either. This is me. Learn to deal. I've told people over and over that they need to email me. But I understand that for some, they are calling and texting and forget email... Ah well.
My boys want iphones. I consider this motivation for a job. They can have the kind of phones I have when they get their drivers license. I dislike huge monthly payouts. I guess I don't value it as some do. I don't need it for work. If I did, it might be different.
My oldest does have an ipad, with a 15 dollar a month payment for internet when away from home. He got it last year and got a keypad for it this year so he can write easier. Writing, yeah, I consider that important.
'I luv ur nu deck' or however it's written, makes me cringe, honestly. I know I'll probably see that in my kids some day soon, but insist they can write right first. Facebook is great for pictures of family and friends. I go there once or twice a month to see familiar faces, adore new babies, and comment on a few great photos.
I too love our forums for the ability to think and muse before I post. I am often tongue tied, hesitant and forget crucial words in English when in person. And yeah, English is my first and only fluent language. Sometimes I need to await a personable mood, or time of month, frankly, or risk having to erase foolish impulse later.
I am addicted to my computer, my forums, but I think I see you all better here [I thrive on all this flowing thought], than I would ever know you in person, unless we became good friends, maybe then. I get to see/hear so many people here that I will probably never get to meet. I enjoy the perspective.
