    2012: The Apocalypse??????

As you all probably know, doomsday is scheduled to occur on December 21, 2012....that's just 620 days from now!
How the end will come is disputed. Will we be abducted by giant aliens from Nibiru, will a pole shift wreak deadly havoc, will the shock wave from a giant comet kill us all, or will it be a Biblical rapture?
I personally think that a magnetic pole shift will occur. This happens every few million years, and we're overdue. My evidence for this is the recent mass bird and fish deaths occurring worldwide. Both fish and birds rely on the magnetic poles to travel. A change in the poles would disorient these animals, which could be the cause of the mysterious fates. This pole switch could kill us all, or it could do barely anything. Maybe an ancient pole switch was the cause of the fall of the dinosaurs.
So, are you building your hideouts in preparation for mass destruction, or do you think it's rubbish? Do tell!

It's nonsense, it really is. Yes, perhaps a magnetic pole shift will happen within the next few years, will it occur on 21/12/12? I doubt it, and fail to see how anyone could predict it without a shred of evidence or scientific study. I think there'll be a lot of people feeling stupid come 22/12/12

I'm not nearly as worried about the end of the world happening in 2012 as I am about the number of question marks, too much pressure. I mean there are questions, and then there are questions with multiple punctuation that make you break out in a cold sweat...

    ...but enough about my phobias.

Since I would sign up for a Biblical rapture I'm afraid I can't put it on my calendar since 'no man knows the hour and no man knows the day'. So the end of the world could be in 2012 as well as any other time, I suppose. Could happen tomorrow. Or I could die in any number of interesting ways before it ever happens and end up watching the whole thing from a significantly different vantage point.

Lol sorry about the question marks, it was supposed to give the impression that I'm sitting here freaking out, sweat dripping on the keyboard, when I actually don't really care.

Well it worked!!! Except now I'm freaking out!!! I hope you're happy!!! (j/k)

If you've ever read Terry Pratchett you'll know why I find multiple punctuation to be kind of funny.

Pole Shift? Aside from probably screwing up all of our compasses, GPS, and any other relevant technology, humans would (biologically, at least) have no problem if the earth's magnetism was reversed. Migratory animals would have a rough time of it though. The recent mass deaths of fish and animals couldn't be related, since the reversal of magnetic poles (a): is a, relatively, quick change, and (b): hasn't happened yet. You've heard we may be overdue, and I've heard that we've got at least 10,000 years before the next one. Either way, I doubt it's anything that could reliably be predicted since humans haven't experienced even one yet.

Comet/Meteor? If we were just under two years away from a meteoric impact, we would know about it. Scientists have so many eyes trained into the sky tracking anything and everything they can see that it'd be virtually impossible for something to sneak up on Earth. I can't claim to be an expert on the math or anything, but if one was that close, it'd be within our solar system already.

Aliens/Bible/Zombies? It's as possible as anything, depending on your beliefs.

Dec. 21 '12 isn't the end of the world according to the Mayans (or Incas? I can't remember). It's just the end of one of their calendar cycles, much like Y2K was for us the end of both a century and a millennium. Had their civilization survived longer, they would've just made more calendars to track time after "Doomsday." I won't be stockpiling water and ammo anyway.

Ah, nothing's gonna happen. No doubt I'll die the moment I find out that I won the lottery, never mind via some cataclysmic event. Not that I'm going to stop buying tickets...

December 22, 2012 will be like any other day-women will have babies, people will go to work, and Obama will be looking through the want ads in the community organizer section. Failing that, Governor Perry of Texas will be drawing up secession papers and calling the legislature in.

See, I didn't have this information before. I think my plans will be to move to Texas, too.
Armageddon will kick off during the 2012 Olympics in Stratford East London when the first starting pistol is fired and mistaken for a gang turf war shot. Believe.

(a): Relative to what? It takes an estimated 7,000 years for earth's magnetic poles to reverse, although about half that time at lower latitudes and (b): It has occurred numerous times in the past, the last being 780,000 years ago.

Nothing will happen on the 21st of December, 2012. However, something massive will happen in 2012 which will change the world as we know it forever. I think I know what it is, too. It's not a comet, or a meteor, or zombies, or a shift in magnetic poles. It will be the end of human rights as we know them. There will probably be a 'terrorist' incident during the 2012 Olympics far worse than anything which came before. It will give those in power the right to bring in new policies which will slowly erode all human rights.

Did you know that the U.S. Congress is pushing strongly to fast-track a bill which will make it compulsory for all newborn babies to be implanted with a chip? Of course, it's under the guise of being a medical aid. They say that being able to monitor a person's system will cut down on people going to medical centres when there's nothing wrong with them. If there is something wrong they'll be contacted immediately. They say it will give them the ability to catch cancer and other life-threatening illnesses in their incipient stages. I say it gives them the ability to know everything about everyone on the planet, and I pity those who would agree to have their baby chipped. Of course, it's not their fault. They're using fear to coerce parents: "Don't you want your baby to be healthy and have the best medical support?"

For those of us who aren't newborn they plan to implant us with a RFID chip. This is supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. The principle is that it will virtually do away with the need to carry money. If you want to buy something, you simply run your finger (which is where the chip is implanted) across a device similar to a bar code reader and the money is wirelessly removed from your account. Sounds brilliant, right? They conveniently leave out the part about paying bills. If you've ever had a subscription to a website or a magazine you'll know that if you pay by credit card, when it comes time to renew your subscription the company removes the money for the next six months or a year without asking you. Unless you cancel your subscription they will continue to remove that money every time a renewal is necessary. The RFID chip follows a similar pattern. If you have a bill to pay, the money is removed from your account without your permission. If all you have is $1000 and your bill is $1000 -- it's taken. No questions asked. If you haven't got the money they take what you have, and the moment you add more they take it as well.

But they can't bring these things in without precedence. They will create an incident which has global repercussions -- like 'terrorists' gaining access to the 2012 Olympics and killing people -- and then say that these chips will allow them to stop such a thing from ever happening again. And people, so caught up in the scaremongering tactics, will agree to whatever their government says needs to happen. In doing so they will forfeit whatever rights they had.

That's what I believe is going to happen in 2012.

O'Daly - The Mayan calendar's Long Count will reset to all zeros on that day, and a new Long Count will begin. That will signal the end of one age and the beginning of the next. Whether there will be any change in the new age will depend on us, just as any change at the start of any new year or new millennium depends on us.

It isn't a lack of consent for you to release the funds, though, it is a blanket consent that they can take the payment from your account as long as you are signed up for automatic bill paying. I don't like automatic bill paying at the moment because our income is too shaky for it.

I believe our military has been using the RFID chip idea for a while. I am 100% against chipping infants. The easiest way for someone to remove your freedom is to promise you safety in return.
