    Love the simplicity.
That planetary alignment is one of the many factors used in the 2012 doomsday fantasies. The fact is, the planets aren't aligning in 2012, and even if all eight planets did line up in a straight line (a configuration which isn't going to happen in the lifetime of our sun) their combined gravity wouldn't be enough to make any measurable difference here on Earth.

Now here's a frightening topic. Although the whole 2012 fascade scares and fascinates us there really are no facts that support it. Of course a lot of catastrophic things have been going on lately, such as tsunamis and earthquakes to even machinations of our own design. Even our very own Sun gives off signs of its digression. These things have been going on for years though, before even the earliest forms of life. But from what I read and learn from documentries, our planet and its sun are already half way through their cycles. By the time their cycles end our galaxy will, according to research, collide with another galaxy - Andromeda.

Either way, if we die or not, chances are we'll not even know about it. We'd be none the wiser. Galactic events are usually so fleeting that it'd be sudden. THAT IS, unless, we're stuck in a Black Hole, where time holds a completely different meaning. Then it'll be slow. Ve-----------ry slow.

Personally, I fear that Al Qaeda will choose to launch a big attack right after 9/11, when security is just beginning to relax. This of course has nothing to do with 2012, yet I feel that a universally catastrophic event could occur this very year, when so many relatively localized disasters have already occurred.

We are our own worst enemy, Trides. It's probably more likely that we'll turn on ourselves and unleash nuclear fallout than some cosmic event wiping us out. I don't understand all this hate in the world. It's so primitive.

This is if you believe 9/11 is al Qaeda own doings.
I am more prone to believe it is someone's else own doings.

There is a self-fulfilling dynamic that follows prophetic utterances. Fortunately for all of us it's an outcome that follows a very steep exponential inverse function, at least from my observations.

This one coming up frightens me more than Y2K. Not that I consider the event itself to be more valid, because it's not by an order of magnitude or more. It's just that it's coming at a bad time with no possible response but hysteria, and when you bring hysteria to focus around a particular date, history shows that very ugly outcomes can and will result.

    Perhaps. And haven't we already?

Why not? People hate for many reasons. It's a built-in instinct that everyone shares. Right?

The Mayans didn't predict the end of the world for 2012, their calendar resets then that is all, but they did predict the Gods would return round about the same time, so they made sure their calendar resets then. Western wrongful Interpretations said it marks the end of the world.

Remember the millennium bug scares? As soon as I heard of it I knew it wasn't true, but computer experts were making an absolute packet by scaremongering, then on the first day of 2000 and nothing occurred people started believing they had been coned by computer experts, but them experts said: 'nothing occurred because we prepared you for it.'

Newspapers were even writing that even kettles could malfunction.

And being an avid bird spotter and ex-pigeon racer, birds dont use magnetic poles for travel routes, they use the position of the sun in the sky, land marks and copy their elders.
