Which Type of Game is More Addicting? Flash Vs. Console

Anything that is on a CD is a console game, that includes PC games. Flash games are stuff that you see online and are usually 2D but are very artistically graphically made.

All things aside on graphics, what do you believe is more addictive to play during your time?

I'm picking flash games because I once wasted 10 hours getting all the badges >.<

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (360) game time in total (2006 - present): 370 hours and getting higher still.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas (360) game times combined (2008 - present): 170+ hours

    Fable 2 (360) game time (2008 - present): 44 hours

    Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 (PS2) game times combined (2003 - present): 245 hours

    Half Life 1, 2, Episode 1, Episode 2 (PC + 360) game times combined (2004 - present) 80+ hours

I'm madly passionate about this medium, so I'd say it isn't addictive, just enthralling. I don't get withdrawal symptoms when I venture outside, I can go months without playing games. I'd say console games are more "enthralling" than flash games, but many flash games have been ported to the current consoles, like N+, Bookworm, Alien Hominid etc.

Lots of flash games are basically trial and error; that in itself is quite maddening in anything, and the term "addictive" is better used there I think, because stuff like (random) BMX backflips, N+ and Trials HD can drive me totally insane. I don't stop trying to succeed for what can be up to 4 hours on a single track, even if there's no prize or achievement. It's simply the satisfaction of completing something that challenges my reflexes I crave.

So in the end, I think it's the game mechanics and risk/reward (don't think I've used that in the right context) that dictate whether a game is addictive, not simply what format it's on; that has no affect on the outcome in my opinion. Whether it be on a PC, Dreamcast, Commodore 64 or an iPhone, it's the actual game that interests you in the end, not the machine that runs it.

Simply picking I'd say consoles, because you get such a wide variety of games that covers flash too. Best (worst?) of both worlds.

Those are my two cents any way .

PS: As you can see, I like using brackets (very frequently).

Another vote for console, here. There's just so much more content, so much more to keep you coming back. The large scale RPGs, whether massively multiplayer or not, are particularly addictive. They're great for prolonging that sense of completion because there's always that extra quest or better suit of armour just over the horizon.

That being said, there's some really addictive flash games. I remember in Highschool I spent way too much time exploring the Ebaum's game library. That one game, where you fly that jet through the square tunnels. . . Oh, I had that one down.
Let's see if my above post is deleted without explanation. Wouldn't be the first time.

Here is a straight out of the book definition of a flash game.

A flash game is a video game that is played on a web browser. It is distinct from other video and computer games in that it typically doesn't require any client-side software to be installed, apart from the web browser
Since you can play Tetris on any web browser then yes, in definition it is a flash game.

No I don't think so, because it wasn't originally a flash game. Just because you can play a Playstation 2 game on a Playstation 3, doesn't mean it's a Playstation 3 game .

If you play Tetris online through a web browser though, of course pick that.

That is why I put, "in definition." It can be both, but in the defining term it's a flash game. In fact, you can put a flash game of any sorts onto a console drive and it can be called a console game. It just depends on how you define a "Flash Game" in your mind in the end.

Well I call those "ports" personally, unless it's been designed from scratch. There's only one definition for a flash game, which you're spot on about, but I wouldn't define Tetris as a flash game that's all .

Another vote for Console here. I can't keep track of the countless nights I've stayed up on consoles, trying to beat 'just one more boss.' As for flash games, the cumulative total is probably under 100 hours.

While there are the occasional 'flash' games that get me hooked (Minesweeper is a flash game in spirit, if not in true definition), none have managed to do so in the way that the better console single-player RPG's have. Mass Effect, Dragon Age Origins, Elder Scrolls IV - it's basically like being in a book; you have the story to immerse yourself in, as well as the ability to explore the world and change it.
The name 'Tsaeb' is pronounced 'zabe'. Not 't-sabe'. Not 'sabe'. It's 'zabe'. Period.
