    5/19/13 Expect Us

I've been seeing this message all over town, and so have other people around the world now that I searched the internet. It's written on walls, bathroom stalls, even money. A lot of people think it's a conspiracy but no one knows for what. Do you think this date means something, or do you think it's just happening to cause panic?

Well, everyone knows the world is going to end in 2012, so whatever they're planning, it's going to be too late.

We can also discuss the legitimacy of 2012. This thread is meant really for the general analysis of conspiracy theories themselves, and the logic behind them. This most recent one is just the scariest. I've talked to people who have gotten emails about this as early as 2001.

I looked at that date and thought: "What the hell? There's a nineteenth month and no one told me!"

Know what you mean Sam, for ages I thought it strange the twin towers came down in December when I thought it was shortly before my birthday.
I read a nice sf short story once about time tourists watching El Alamein, a British Patrol starts heading for the bunker they are using and quickly, before leaving for the future again, one graffitis his name, "Kilroy was here".

I'm hoping it isn't legitimate, because I just paid extra for the water heater that has a nine-year warranty.

Is this a UK thing? I haven't seen anything in Canada regarding this.

When is William getting married? Is that the date?

If it was a UK thing then the date would have been written properly.

I was raised hearing about the 2012 thing. There's a lot of detail that goes into some of the theories (and I use this word deliberately). I think it's mostly hype. My personal belief is that it's just a period of change. We'll still exist, just we're likely to have some experiences (war, drought, famine, disasters, etc) that will change our outlook on life (as a species). I think it's all for the better, in the long run.

Who knows.. I may be wrong, but the things I've seen lead me to believe there's some truth in the 2012 prediction.

Chances are, that there will be something that happens in 2012 that supports my 'prediction'. so I plan on taking some comfort in being right

Something massive will happen in 2012, but it won't be a comet, or the destruction of the world, or the end of civilisation as we know it. And it won't happen on the 21st of December, either. It will be the end of our freedom as we know it. It's all moving towards it at a rapid pace. For years I've been telling people that the world is becoming a police state and that our rights are being removed one by one. It's the Orwellian vision, and more and more people are beginning to realise that it's not lunatics shouting nonsense from the tops of buildings anymore. There's real substance to what people like Alex Jones and Jim Corr are talking about.

You can't even walk down the street anymore without being recorded on CCTV. Everyone is being watched. Orwell's slogan of "Big Brother is watching you" could not be more true today. He's not only watching you, he's tracking your every move. That little device that everyone on the planet owns -- a mobile phone -- is like a GPS system pinpointing your exact location. I suppose I'm beginning to sound like Gene Hackman's character from Enemy of the State, but it's happening.

There's one thing they didn't count on, though, and that's the Internet. You can't silence the Internet. You can control the news stations, the newspapers, and the radios, but you can't control the Information Superhighway. They're trying desperately, but you just can't. And this is the reason why more people are starting to become aware of the situation.

Maybe you think I'm crazy, but I've spent the best part of this decade researching and reading about these things. There is more evidence for it than against. Everything that has happened this decade -- 9/11, 6/6, the economic collapse -- it has all combined to remove our fundamental rights as human beings. The TSA, Homeland Security, the IMF -- how many of us can say that any of those are good? You can't board a plane now with a bottle of perfume for your wife/girlfriend. The IMF have destroyed practically every country they've ever bailed out.

We're allowing these people to insidiously get inside our heads and tell us what's right and wrong. We've become a ridiculously sensitive generation. An age of political correctness has turned us from people with a mind of our own to a bunch of robots who repeat the same thing some other guy said on the television the night before and adopt as our own. Our progenitors would be awestruck by how easily we allow change and give in to the higher powers.

Maybe you think I've gone off my meds, but I've never been as sure of anything in my life. Bit by bit, this world is becoming a fascist state. I think people really need to start realising that the roses look beautiful but when you get close you discover they smell like manure.

I don't doubt any one point you've made.. just the concept behind 2012. Again, this is just my view, but there are powers coming into influence in our world that will prevent this 'policed world' and restore it to one of peace and cooperation.

Time will tell, and I'm not really in any mood to detail my reasonings behind this. It would just take too long.

My vote is for the new Age becoming one of enlightenment and a change in power for the better.

I saw a interesting documentary on The History Channel. The basic premise had to do with how fragile our infrastructure is -- utilities, healthcare, deliver of basic goods, law enforcement etc. and that if there was a pandemic with significant loss of life, that basically, everything would shut down -- mostly because there wouldn't be enough people to run things. It wouldn't take much for everything to descend into chaos and it would happen in a matter of weeks. Then it would be every man for himself. The program supposed that those left would have to start over again, we'd be thrust back to a preindustrial society. Cities would simply be abandoned. Think about it. You probably have a few days worth of food in your house. Once the supply chain is broken -- you're on the brink of starvation.
