I don't know about you guys, but I'm planning on seizing control of all the nuclear bases in the world and detonating them on December 21, 2012.
I'm wondering how many people are having this exact idea... right... now...

I don't think so...
While I agree with most viewpoints in this thread (no matter how much more depressed it makes me) I don't think the world could ever truly become a Fascist State. There will always be those who will stand up and, regardless of weapons or governments or whatever, it is the people who rule the world. I am a firm believer in the greatest good for the greatest number and that the species comes before the individual. I have been accused of agreeing with a fascist world. After all, everyone would be working towards the same goals then, wouldn't they? A controlling group is all well and good, and much could be achieved by the loss of personal freedoms in return for a society focused on the species (which any singularly-controlled society must be, unless it wishes to die off).
However, I think that the idea of control and governments is taken too far. What is the point of Countries? Of segregating different cultures and races? What is the point of fighting a Fascist regime? What is the point in anything? A government should guide, should deal with things communities can't, should only ever work on concepts or constructions that require cooperation. Governments should not have the power to control, they should not have the power to decide what is best for the society they govern. But that's just my .02c. If people don't want something, if they truly believe it's for the worst, such as the Fascist World, people must see both sides of the story. We need to make a decision we won't regret later, otherwise we're just repeating the pattern.
