theology war?
it's the same god, its the same Christ. Get over it.
There's absolutely not much of a point to argue about this.
i'm not religious but i'm sure this wasn't the point of christ's teachings.

In my opinion, as a Muslim, Cordoba doesn't refer to the Islamic triumph over Christians, but it refers to what Muslims lost. In my culture, it is always a name that brought nostalgic feelings not of pride.
Honestly, I don't know why this name was chosen for this mosque. usually names of mosques are either like: "mercy", "forgiveness",...and other name of positive feelings or names of figures in the Islamic history, but not places, unless it's the name of its location.
alanmt, this is the first time I heard that Islam is a political movement, I have heard once, it's an ideology, though I think it is just a religion that aims at worshiping God as other beliefs on the earth. The Saudi government, as any other Muslim country, gives foreigners freedom of belief, because they have to, as they have signed a number of agreements that insure this right, beside other rights. Of course they have to respect the holiness of some religious cities and need to dress accordingly, but this is again a similar thing in Vatican or the forbidden city of China, or the Tibetan temples.
People of Saudi and especially women are the ones who don't have freedom ( I don't mean the religion) but freedom in general. As a woman, if I went there, I'd feel I traveled in past.
Other than there was already a Mosque there, the actual site is not a part of the result of 9-11.
Would the subject be different if the site was in sight of an abortion clinic bombing?
I live close to Wichita Ks, where Dr Tiller was murdered in his own church by a man who said it was his Christian religious beliefs that justified it and commanded it. Would there then be justification for objecting to a Baptist church being built two blocks from the Dr.’s clinic?
No the entire faith would not be held as responsible for the actions of someone who claimed that faith was his justification. FYI there was also a Mosque in the World trade center, many Moslems were also killed in the attack.
The objections are aiding and abiding the Terrorists, it was their intent to cause the U.S. to abandon our principles and morals. So far we committed torture and called it other then torture.
Now we abandon our beliefs in fairness and equality of person and faith.
Reasons why this is not a problem:
1. Not at Ground Zero
2. Two mosques already existing prior to 9/11
3. Not funded by radicals, in fact, by Sufis, a "bastardization" of the religion in the eyes of radicals
4. Looks cool.
I agree, :p!!!
