because it was the Japanese who committed those brutal crimes.
Wrong, it was some Japanese, ones who are now very old or dead.

Of course, the masses of Japanese and German people were brainwashed. And without a doubt fear played an important role into getting them to follow the wrong people--either you stand with us or you're buried over there.

You could glance around the planet today and see the same thing going on. So when you say they're either old or dead, I disagree. Maybe from day one, the masses have been following the wrong people. That's just the way it is; we shouldn't pretend otherwise.

    Truth always ruffles feathers.

Maybe it is simply following people that is wrong, independence is scary, you only have yourself to blame, on the other hand that is a reason for getting it right.

Nothing wrong with following others, but when you start noticing the people you follow doing things they ought not to be doing, then the ball is in your court to do something--either abandon them or topple them. But don't stand around applauding the slaughter. Doesn't make the "many" (excluding women and children) right either.

Russell said that the morality of the behaviour of a group is in direct inverse proportion to the number of individuals involved, I am for individual responsibility, that does not work well in most groups.
