Novel Critique

I've been attempting to write a novel over the past several years, stopping and starting, and I've made it to chapter 10. However, before I continue, I would like to know if what I have thus far is good enough. I've attempted to get critique for it, by professionals, and I would really appreciate it if someone from these forums would be willing to take a look at it. Currently, I have the first chapter posted on another site. It's seperated into two parts, for easier reading. You don't have to critique on that site. Here would be fine.

Once again, I'd appreciate your help. Thanks!

Ok. Sorry. I just figured that length would be a problem.

There we go. Sorry about that. Well, I hope you enjoy it. And once again, I don't mind the critcism, creative or otherwise. Thanks! (Too many words for the chapter... I had to post it in two parts. Sorry!)
