I know this is completly beside the point, but anything you write has an established copyright without you having to do anything. It is impossible to write/create something without copyright.

atmy, while that is true, unless you state it - there is no legal copywrite. This is what keeps the people who claim George Foreman stole their grill idea. A sure fire way to avoid this is to not post more than half your story (if looking to publish) or even more than a third. The chances of them matching would be very slim and if you have file after file (like me) regarding my work as well it being posted on several websites with my real name attached to it. Then all you have to say is, "Judge, let me sign into my profile here using my e-mail address. Look, there, my story with the word 'Copywrite of MY NAME and the date".
If you're posting under a name of sephirothrulz_97 it's hard to verify that in court.
