Cran: I make my recipes because they are directly linked to certain aspects of the plate that is set in front of me. While everyone is out enjoying Mexican chilli's and Italian, I'm making cuisine out of something you could buy at a grocery store. True meals are built upon something you would normally find disgusting. Right now, I'm trying to make anchovies taste like China Buffet....in a sense that too many people directly find the negative out of something that looks gut-wrenching. Bland meals can be prepared blandly, and still taste like something elegant from Iron Chef. As for the copious sauce and meaningless bases, if one tries hard enough, they could make cheap ramen taste like Japanese ramen! Sorry....I got a bit excited there for a moment. You know what Cran....this talking about food is making me fucking hungry as hell. Ice cream seems like it might hit the spot....

mammamaia: how can anyone 'be immersed by' anything?
|
well ... one can be "immersed by" force, or "immersed by" choice,
or "immersed by" 8pm ...
but your point, which Derrick missed, was
in the context used he meant "immersed in" ...
eg, a hot tub ... or pasta sauce ...

Ah, but trying and succeeding are not always the same thing ...
and those who have tasted and enjoyed many Chinese buffets are telling you that yours tastes very strongly of anchovies ...

Ah, so the man does not live on pasta sauce alone! Enjoy your ice cream ...

Cran: The ice cream was delicious, it was Homemade Chocolate from Blue Bunny. Yum.
"Really" you said. Yes really. Its possible to make art, in this case cuisine, from the ground up from anchovies. In fact, many food enthusiasts will say that the best tasting food is created from normally nasty food. An example are insects. Normally, one would find insects to be grotesque, but here's the twist. Lots of "outsiders", cook these insects in a way that could make Chinese Buffet look like cream-of-corn. Well, again, my bed is calling my name, and I must pay my dues in the only way how. As for everyone else, feel free to add any comments regarding me, my anchovy dishes, or anything else you wish to know about me AND my anchovy dishes. Goodnight.

you're so clever, cran!... by 'anything' i did mean a tangible thing, not 'force' or 'choice' or '8pm'... but i guess you couldn't know that... excellent examples of the intangible, regardless...
love, hugs and a bow, m

Today, I just recently discovered an extreme interest in a unique aspect of writing. I was on the Internet at school, and stumbled upon a style of writing that intrigues the living shit out of me....which is not to say I'm full of shit. I will write a new piece tomorrow and post it here, and it will be somewhat connected to "Summation". I will say this though. This next piece will be something that you really don't see often, even if you do....you would find it to be........distinct. Basically, I'll formulate the concept, write in the way I'm anxious to write it in, run with every thought, and see what the result is. Again, when I post it, you can read it, make comments......but no suggestions because I most likely won't change it based on what you offer. It will be a new thread I might add, so we can start over on a fresh slate open for discussion.

nineteen: I thought that you weren't going to post anymore? Well, if you do, that is completely fine with me, its your decision. But unfortunately, I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that I just got Nine Inch Nails' "Year Zero" today from a friend who bought it for me by surprise. Its a WEIRD ALBUM........let me tell you that. Trent has REALLY stepped outside himself to make such a brave record that sounds so......different. The first three songs are loud as hell, they kinda thrashed me a little. As for the rest of the album, its very subdued, which I like because it gives the cd its own original personality. "The Beginning of the End" was a high point for me, a song that will take time to digest.
The bad news is that because of Year Zero, I will be listening to this all night, forcing me to postpone my new work for tomorrow. I know, you're probably saying, "what kind of writer is that?!!" Well, if you were a NIN fan and were passionate about them, you would sympathize easily. I will post the new piece here, but be warned. Its definitely unlike anything I've previously written, in terms of composure. I will not say its great, I will not say I'm unhappy with it, you just have to read and form your own opinion.

Nine Inch Nails is alright. I used to listen to that stuff A LOT but now I've getten a lot mellower. As in Bright Eyes, Sufjan Stevens, The Decemberists, The Shins...I mean MUCH softer. I don't know many people who have had such a dramatic change in musical preference as I have. I guess I still like everything, though, pretty much. I don't know why I want to talk about music so bad all of the sudden...Hmmm...

tearsstream: Hello again. This may be off topic but, oh well. I don't know any of the artists you just mentioned except for Bright Eyes. They are the mellowest band I've ever heard in my life. Mellow is good, but I prefer heavy, loud in your face type of music such as Year Zero. I live in the hometown of Bright Eyes, which is Omaha. Its pretty average here as for the music scene, but I'm so into NIN that I don't have a clue what's going on. You speak of how you have a dramatic change in music right? Well I hate to disappoint you, but my undergoing is far more diverse than yours. To sum it up, I went from rap, to liking nothing, to Evanescence, and to NIN. I own The Downward Spiral, The Fragile, With Teeth and Year Zero. I'm an open minded fan I might add. You always hear about the manically depressed fans who ceaselessly whine their pubescent asses off about how The Downward Spiral is so great, and how nothing can compare to it ever again. I LOVE TDS, but that doesn't mean I invest all my musical preference into it because of how terrible I feel and how stubborn I would be to loosen up. That album propelled them to pinnacles so high, that instead of enjoying the album, fans abuse it to the point where their minds become so shut-off from new material that Trent could produce. But now that Year Zero is out and have listened to it twice in its entirety, I will say that this is THE BEST album Reznor has contributed to his impressive collection of halos. Its loud, moving, and addicting to the point where I might not be able to function in my classes with the melodies scarred into my brain. Sorry for my rampant babbling, but when NIN is brought up, I get a little....anxious.
