Greeting,

I'm writing an essay (450 word) where the last line has to be the following:
"With a mighty surge, he rolled over into the red waves and was dead".
I'd like some help on some events that would have led to this final sentence.
I thought maybe this sky was reddish at sundown, and caused the waves to
appear red... Any other ideas? Thanks

You could always go for the ever popular 'red from blood' option.

or the waves of red could be anger, and it was his built up anger that had killed him

The red waves could be a pulse red plasma security system. He could've been timing the pulse before he rolled into a shaft that leads down to a system of ducts that work through a prison where his brother is being held.

Or he could be the prisoner escaping at night and takes a daring roll out from behind a bunch of barrels, into the red waves of laser targeting sniper rifles searching for him. Where by of course, they shot him dead.

Probably some kind of explosion. Have you thought about a hydrogen/atom/nuclear explosion, you know the initial blast?

It's not a literal death, but a spiritual death. The red waves represent his Badthoughts, which, by seperating from himself, let him define his personality. However, by embracing the Badthoughts, he effectively killed his personality. There can be several reasons for WHY he decided to suddenly embrace the Badthoughts.

Or you could be more imaginative still and use the red waves as a metaphor for satin bed sheets, or.......a struggling writer committing suicide by throwing himself into a vat of Cherry Cola......urm.........a man on cocaine who thinks that having sex with women will kill him and in the end it is true (I'll let you decide what that metaphor is, heh).........urm........a rock star who has a heart attack and collapses onto the rows of people in the bands red T-shirts they just bought at the stadium shop???
