Very Quick question concerning a "name".

In the story I am continually working on, there are various races of "demi / proto - humans" that have some (very-limited) animal-like characteristics, some more than others and vice-versa.

one of which are shamanistic rabbit-people, who are kinda suppose to be kinda similar to native-americans of the great plains.

Now...the name "Hoppits" popped into my mind and I just about burst out laughing.

but then the more I thought about it, the better is seemed, a nice parody...but it's still a little "dorky".

Suggestions? Input?

(it wouldn't have to have anything "rabbit" or "hare" related nessessarily, for instance, I have a race of desert dwelling Fox / Jackle-like people are known as the "Sandohine".)

Rabbits are from the Leporidae family; that link may give you some ideas.

The Thing is an unknown quantity at this point
How about 'Cottontails'? It sounds more like a nickname, but it's an idea.

How about taking part of a name of a species of rabbit, like Bushman, Amami... or do something with their latin name like, Romerolagus diazi could be the Romerolagus people or the diazi tribe.

Or you could take your influence from modern cinematic classics like Were-rabbit.

I think that i have settled on the name "Lepann" as a general name for the people. But i kinda like the idea of "Diazi" as a name of a tribe, thanks.
