Cleric Academy - plans and characters
Cleric Academy
The Art Of Imagination
* * * *
Story Overview
Imagination is an art form, and it is an art form that can be used for battle...
Throughout the continent of Seyenne, there are various schools for the education of young clerics. Religion is the sinlge most powerful thing in Seyenne, and as such, these clerics are constantly striving to be their best. The students are pushed to their breaking points, forming bonds with their deities all in hopes of acheiving the highest clerical status- that of an avatar.
The schools all over the continent are devoted to singular deities. One school would be an academy of Eura, the goddess of fire, while another would be for the disciples of Emata, the goddess of emotion.
However, one cleric academy is different. Set aside from the others on a remote island, the Avatar Academy is home to the best of the best. Young clerics from all over Seyenne, from all different faiths, are recruited to study and train under some high priests that have reached the coveted position of avatar.
This year, one high priest at the academy has proposed an idea that may change the future. What if it is not a select few who have the ability to become the best? What if every person has the capabilities?
One student, taken from a normal cleric school is chosen at random as an experiment. He is placed among prodigies who have talents unlike anything he has ever seen before. Can he force himself to compete at their level? Or will he destroy himself in the process?
Imagination As Art
Imagination, or rather the physical manifestation of it, is the true test of one's power. The more imagination a cleric can push into the physical world, the stronger that cleric's bond with his or her deity must be. Using imagination in the form of magic like this is what shows the strength of one's bond to his or her deity, as it is the deity who gives the cleric the power to manifest their imagination in the real world.
Much of this power is used as an art, for example, the practice known as watersculpting. However, the manifestation of imagination is also used as a way to do battle, and to determine whose bond with his or her deity is the stronger.
The imagination fights have grown wide popularity among the cleric students in Seyenne, and has become a sport. Schools have developed teams of skilled imagination "artists" to do battle with teams from other schools.
At the end of the school year, one school will have proven itself to be the closest to its deity, and that one school will have proven itself to be the best.
Main Cast
Deiji Clessdale
Deity: Maga, god of the earth
Year: One (freshman)
Deiji was chosen at random from the Northern School of Maga to come to the Avatar Academy. Deiji is more than an imagination artist, but a real artist as well, usually carrying a paint set with him wherever he goes. As such, he seemed to be a lucky recruit for the Avatar Academy, with a strong imagination. However, the often-daydreaming Deiji does seem to have a problem conecting with his birht-god Maga, who's a solid and earthly deity. In terms of the imagination art, he is significantly worse than the others at the elite school, but he has a headstrong determination and high ambitions, as well as the strong desire to prove that he can do anything he sets his mind to.
Lilliana Greene
Deity: Emata, goddess of human emotion
Year: One (freshman)
Lilliana is the neice of Shandra Greene, a well-known cleric who has acheived the status of Avatar of Emata. Because Lilliana's birthday falls in the same month as her aunt, and thus she was taught the ways of the same goddess, many expect her to follow in her aunt's footsteps. As such, there is a lot or pressure on Lilliana's shoulders. She was recruited to the Avatar Academy because of this, but has nonetheless proven her skill and talent. Despite all the pressure on her and her small-time-celebrity status, she has a very optimistic and kind personality.
Diarra Agnawn
Deity: Kanara, goddess of day and night
Year: Three (senior)
Diarra has tremendous skill in the imagination arts. It seems sometimes as though she has powers similar to those of an avatar. However, her casual attitude towards the gods tends to make people weary of her. She's never been seen in prayer, even during her imagination battles, and despite the fact that she was born to serve Kanara, the goddess of day and night, her magical abilities tend to be widely diverse and varied, as though she is not focused on her one goddess. When asked about it, she simply answers that her bond with Kanara is a silent and personal one, an answer that works to defer any talk against her. Her personality is cold and arrogant. She doesn't talk much, and when she does, it's blunt and often rude.
Syldia Kodi
Deity: Eura, goddess of fire
Year: Two (junior)
Syldia has been known to cause trouble. Her goddess, Eura, is the deity of fire as well as of chaos, and Syldia seems to be the embodiment of that. Not only does she have dark red hair and piercing eyes, but her temper is so short that the smallest things could trigger an attack. Like Diarra, Syldia has a very arrogant attitude, but she doesn't keep quiet about it. Syldia is likely to all-out insult people she doesn't like, and has gotten in trouble quite a few times for starting fights. Somewhat surprisingly, though, she tends to be one of the most religious students in the Avatar Academy, spending most of her alone time in deep prayer with her goddess. Her sheer power in the imagination battles is unmatched, though she lacks substantially in other areas.
Thae Mercredi
Deity: Acora, goddess of the sea
Year: Three (senior)
Thae is the smart and silent type. Her beauty, as well, is known throughout the Academy. Thae has a natural muscial talent, accompanied by an incredible alto singing voice. Watersculpting, too, is one of her many talents. She's kind and helpful to everybody, and she doesn't really have any enemies, but rather is friendly to all. Everything about her seems to be perfect, though there are times when she gets in moods when she wants to be left completely alone in her own thoughts. When she gets like this, even her best friend, Diarra, gives her the space she needs. She seems to have a troubled mind, but her genuinely kind personality and multitude of talents always manage to allow her to come out on top.
As you can probably tell, I have big plans for this. It's somwhat inspired by Prince of Tennis (if anybody has seen that), though at the same time, it's nothing like it. Wonder how that worked out?
