As his brother slowly drove him home from what seemed to be a nightmare that never seemed to end, he sat there weeping in his hands barely making a sound. Just the sound of shedding tears slowly dripping down his face. He regretted all the long lost days of love; he wondered how love could be so cruel and thoughtless. This was a nightmare, but this nightmare was his life. Everything was going in slow motion; he noticed every single detail of the pitiful and lonely world around him. The truck kicking up dirt and pebbles on the desolated gravel road, the trees wavering in the howling wind. He slowly drifted off into his own thoughts asking himself what could have happened if he just tried harder, but was it really his own fault? He slowly pictured the day it all began…
He looked outside as he slowly awoke from his slumber to the sound of his alarm clock. His body let out a long groan slightly but got up and slowly trudged to his dresser where he grinned noticing that his mom had washed his favorite shirt and it was crisp and clean folded on his dresser, the nightmare was only beginning… No way could he have time to eat and make it to the bus so he skipped breakfast because he was already running late, and he quickly headed outside to catch his bus for school, but he was all to slow and he saw the bus go by watching it all happen so slowly.
He stepped out of his brother’s truck, and felt his feet touch the pavement; he slowly walked off into the direction of his school entrance. Then he saw it, the girl he loved and who he thought loved him slowly kiss his best friend. He felt a salty tear slowly sting his eye…He held it together and walked into school as if nothing was wrong, but deep down he couldn’t hide his emotions. She walked into school at the same time greeting him with a loving hello; she obviously didn’t know what he had seen. When asked what was wrong he just shrugged it off. He kissed her on the cheek and they walked off together as if nothing had ever happened.
When his brother finally pulled into the house he couldn’t stop the tears, his brother didn’t even care, and he walked inside as if he saw nothing. “Fuck him” he slowly muttered. He ran inside looking got the closest thing to comfort he could find. He found it in the form of a blade, he slowly touched it to his wrist feeling the sharp sting of what he hoped would end it all, But no. He couldn’t end his life this way.
He ran upstairs not thinking twice, clinging to the medicine cabinet he thrust it open finding his comfort. He looked around him, and slowly shut the door. He took out his prescription pills. Looking on the back he saw for the use of painkillers and anxiety, just what I need. He took out the bottle and turned the cap. All of a sudden a knock thundered on the door and a quick yell from his father “Get out of the damn bathroom, I have to use it!” screaming back at his father he said “Hold on dad I’m right in the middle of something!” “Get out of the damn bathroom or you’ll have something to worry about”. With slight hesitation he took the full bottle of pills and swallowed them all with one gulp.
Everything quickly started to get hazy; he stumbled onto his banister and clung to it for dear life. He quickly flashed back to the day he had seen it all happen…The whispers of him and his love, the whispers were still dancing in his ear “I love you”, “Be mine forever”, “never leave me”. They were all just fucking lies. He fell to the ground everything turned black, He came back looking at his surroundings, he was at his house where he had fallen, and his brother hunched over a limp figure, his mother weeping in a frenzy of sorrow. He saw the paramedics rush in and try to revive the limp body. Then it hit him, the body was his. He suddenly realized he didn’t want to go. He couldn’t leave the world just yet; for sure it wasn’t his time. It was a mistake! He never meant to do this to himself, he had so much regret. The paramedics slowly whispered something into his mother’s ear…
“It won’t end like this” he screamed as he saw his body being lifted onto the stretcher. He was drowning in his own pool of self regret. The pain of knowing he had done this to himself was overwhelming his soul fell to the ground weeping in agony. He looked up to the ceiling and screamed “O, god help me…” Picturing all the lost days he will never get to see, he shattered his future. All his dreams are tarnished, why couldn’t he have stopped and thought it all over. Tears were now streaming down his face, but wait. It didn’t have to end now, he controlled his own fate. He ran towards the stretcher that was being carried away screaming and then he dived into his own body…
He looked outside as he slowly awoke from his slumber to the sound of his alarm clock he moaned slightly but got up and slowly trudged to his dresser where he grinned noticing that his mom had washed his favorite shirt and it was crisp and clean folded on his dresser. There was no nightmare this time. Trudging to the medicine cabinet he threw it open and took his daily prescriptions for anxiety. He walked down the stairs grabbing his breakfast on the go and running outside only to see the bus already about to leave. He sped towards it catching it just in time. As he stepped off the bus his foot collided with the hard pavement. He looked up only to see his one true love waiting there. Waiting there, looking at him. Her eyes seemed to light up his world when everything was dark, she was the only thing he lived for.
