Editing/Advice

Hello I would like some help with editing my essay and advice on how to improve it. I'm not really sure if flows because it was hard to find the right info to have it between 800-1000 words. My topic is: Why you think more African-Americans now than ever are earning college degrees?

African-Americans are now earning college degrees more than before because there are more opportunities to help accomplish earning one. In the past, society was new to the integration of African-Americans in higher education. It was unusual for someone other than the majority to be able to do such things. Now as the majority of the society sees this as a usual act, more opportunities are being open for the minorities to use for their benefit.

In high school more opportunities are opening up to allow students to gain college credit. One important opportunity is the Advance Placement. The Advance Placement is a program that students can sign up for, to take a college level course in high school and earn college credit. This can be a benefit to African-Americans that want to reduce their future college hours for just a price of the exam.

Many students decide to take the SAT and ACT while still in high school. Some classes in high school are now required to prepare students for these tests. This preparation can be good for the students for they can experience the method that the SAT and ACT take. More courses that only involved the SAT and ACT are now becoming available. Some African-American students can now be prepared for the test that can help gain them college admission.

After high school, many young African-Americans are encourage to go to college to pursue a higher education to increase their knowledge and enter a career field that they choose. More are seeing that even though they have done poorly in high school, that doesn’t make up whom they are and what they can accomplish. The ones that want to attend college now have more opportunities to prepare for college life, so they can accomplish getting their degrees.

Today there are many scholarships, financial aid, loans, and many other aids that can help African-Americans complete their college courses and achieve their degrees. Some worry that they may not be able to attend college because they can’t afford to go or they can’t take a break from work to do so. This is what the aids are there for. As long as they available just about anyone can use them.

Scholarships are one of the major aids for paying for college. They are considered to be free since you do not create a debt by obtaining one. Scholarships are one the most common aid to find, but they can be hard to earn one. Some scholarships you have to meet a certain requirement to get one. African-Americans, who are athletic, have good grades, or do community service, can have a more easy time to gain one.

Colleges are now encouraged to enroll minorities. This is to help bring equal education among the people of all races and gender. With this goal in mind, it is now easier for African-Americans to be able to attend college. More minority aid is becoming available to increase the enrollment and involvement of minorities. Many African-Americans are taking this opportunity to achieve their goals in education and careers. This opportunity is increasing the economic power thus creating more jobs and pay.
As opportunities increase so does the involvement. Now there are more opportunities for older adults to go back to college and get the degree that they needed. More African-Americans are motivated to take this opportunity to accomplish their goal that they might not have been able to do before. Others may do it to earn more money, increase their education, or to switch to a different career.

Society is now evolving technology wise. Ever since the web was created, more people are putting time into developing it. Even colleges are putting their classes online. For the people who are working, now there are even online courses available if they can’t attend a live course. This is a great opportunity for busy African-Americans to take courses and get their degrees online.

Jobs are increasing as our society grows. There are more demands for certain knowledge and skills. More of these jobs are requiring degrees that someone must have to be able to enter that career field. African-Americans are realizing this opportunity to gain a degree and enter the work force or to reach a higher level of their career. Some jobs are even paying their workers to earn their degrees, which can be beneficial to African-Americans who cannot afford to get a degree.

African-Americans are earning more college degrees today because of the many opportunities that are becoming available. As society moves forward so do education and the need to obtain it. Our society is seeing the need to make education equal among our citizens and is making it easier for everyone to gain it by providing aid, programs, and anything else that will be beneficial.
