Rear Cover help? To much vs not enough

I dropped off my manuscript at Book Masters yesterday! They said my rear cover had to much info and to pithy it up a little. This is the rewrite, please post your thoughts. I know the rear cover needs to be worded well if I expect to sell the 1500 books I have coming. Any help would be very appreciated, Thanks William Bailey, newwriterone

"The Great Ship Of Knowledge"T.M.

Volume one

"Learning Earth's Deathly History"
(c) 2008 William Bailey

Rear cover below
__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ____________________________________________

"What is reality? Isn’t reality just your mind accepting life and everything around you as factual?"

"Journey with me into the future, let me lead you through the pages on the greatest adventure of all time, inspired by an true epiphany I suffered during a moment of sleep. It’s a story for our time. Right now humanity has reached a fork in the road, one road leads to life and the other death. In this book, the first of a trilogy, you’ll learn what’s on the road to death and a little of what’s possible on the road of life. Only by showing the world the cataclysmic cost of a world divided can they appreciate the wonders of life and the endless possibilities of a world united."

Fixed my misspells and bad grammer

I hope I caught everything. You would think after 300,000 words I would start to learn to spell. Thank God for my wordsmith wife!

I think the parts you have bolded will do nicely for a back cover blurb. Omit the lengthy description in the middle (the plain text), IMO.

Thank you for the feed back. I was looking through the best seller rack at the book store today to see what is on the rear covers. From what I could tell they were all over the board
1) Some rear covers have nothing other than a picture.
2) Some had nothing other than the posted reviews of their book
3) Some had a bold one liner with some discription below
4) Some had way to much discription IMHO, so much so you almost felt like you didn't need to read the book to know what it's about.
Yet all were on the best seller rack, I liked choice number 3, a one liner and a tease of content. I might need to keep making it more pithy.

If it's a best seller, you might want to ask you why there are so little description on the back. If it's a book from a well-known author, how much description do you need? He/she has already published several books, so this one is most likely similar. If you like the others, you will like this.
If it's from a lesser-known author (or even the first book he/she has written), you need a better description as the name of the author isn't enough to sell the book.

Just a tip.

If it's a hard-back book, the blurb is usually on the inside flap. There's usually always a blurb, though.

I think what I'll do...

I think I will spend this next week coming up with a half dozen rear cover lay outs. Then, I'm going to the bookstore/coffee house and I'm going to ask customers which rear cover is most likely to make them purchase.

Too much advanced words. My two cents.

No, you haven't heard correctly, because that's a load of crap.

Well, this is news to me - I thought the publishers decided what blurb suited the back cover.
