A Tree Grows In Brooklyn

Being back at my parents' house, in my old room, I stumbled across this book. I read it awhile ago, but I remember that I loved it. It's a really, really , really good book. Somehow I missed it until I was in my twenties, and it still kicked ass. I imagine as a child this would be one of those books that would inspire someone to write. I know my mom and my grandma both said they read it when they were young, which is kind of cool.
The characterization is awesome. Her voice is awesome. The book is awesome.
I've never read any of her other books. Anyone know anything about them?

Betty Smith also wrote Maggie-Now, and Joy in the Morning.
Both were wonderful reads.

Another was called Tomorrow Will Be Better. I've never read that one.

My former writing teacher told me I should read this.

I keep forgetting.

I've read Joy in the Morning and really enjoyed it. I'm not sure whether it is as satisfying as Tree, but its a good read. I probably read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn every couple of years. It really hits a warm spot with me.
