Looking For A Book.

I am looking for a modern day fantasy/adventure book. I don't mean the fantasy books set in medievil times like lord of the rings etc. but something set in the modern day world with a similar concept e.g. magic, journeys etc. Thanks

The Dark Materials trilogy comes to mind, but it's popular enough that I doubt you'd need anyone to reccomend it...

You will probably like Clive Barker's novels, notable Imajica and Weaveworld. His The Great and Secret Show and its sequel, Everville, may also be what you are looking for.

How about some Terry Pratchett? "The Colour Of Magic" and "The Light Fantastic" are the only two I've read so far but they're good.

Pratchett is hardly fantasy set in the modern world.
