    Anyone read Wally Lamb?

In a critique once, someone mentioned I might be interested in reading "She's Come Undone", and I loved it ! It even prompted some inspirational thinking for my novel, which is always a bonus! I need to check out his other works.

Just wondering if anyone else has read any Wally Lamb? If you have, what did you think?

'She's Come Undone' is a good book. His next book is 'I Know This Much Is True' which is a better story in my opinion - but you have to give it a long period of attention to begin with, just so you connect with the characters. Otherwise you could feel outside the story... involvement is a must with this one.

I've just begun reading "I Know This Much Is True", and you're absolutely right, you do need to give it a long period of attention... it's a lot slower... but I'm liking it so far

The only thing I've noticed is some of the age-old writer's rules have been broken by Lamb (!) ... you know, don't use cliches, don't say in ten words what you can say in two...

It just really surprised me, because I thought "She's Come Undone" was really original and well-written, and across the backcover of IKTMIT everyone's labelling it "a masterpiece" and saying it's better than SCU and all... I don't know if he's thrown these cliches and things in deliberately.. to paint the narrator's character.. or what... but I sure noticed a lot of them... hmm
