Thread: Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs

Running with Scissors is a memoir about Augesten's childhood, starting when he was 12 or 13. The book seems like a of bunch of interweaving vignettes. Each of these brings us closer to the characters and makes the reader laugh. At times I found it hard to believe that this was all true. Some of the things that happened were so insanely stange, but incredibly interesting and funny. The book is fairly easy to read. There's no overly flowery sentences, he tells like it is. Which is something I like. And at the end I was disappointed that it was over, and to me that's a true sign of a good book. Though I don't think I'll read the sequel. I read the excerpt included with the book, and it was kind of boring, so I guess the book ended at the right time. Anyways, highly recommended.

I've read it. It's such a wild thing to actually be reading it and think that this is all true.

Yeah, I think it's something you'd like, not sure about the writing style but content wise I think it fits your taste.

Btw, been wanting to read American Psycho for the longest time and then your review reminded me of it again. Keep forgetting.

im actually reading Zombie by Joyce Carol Oates and its sort of touted as a precursor to AP. not bad, so far, but AP is better, in my books
