Looking for books that blend satire and inspiration

Right now I just started writing a screenplay that I want to be inspirational but satirical at the same time. I sort of want it to be like the movie Drop Dead Gorgeous. If anyone has any suggestions please share. I'm sort of stuck right now and I'm hoping a book or something can be help get back on track.

I would say Tom Robbins. Specifically, Still Life with Woodpecker. Maybe some Vonnegut? I'm reading Cat's Cradle right now, and while it is certainly satirical, the only inspirational aspect as of yet is his talent. Try Robbins.

'History of the Millennium (So Far)' by Dave Barry. Amazon will let you glance through a few pages if you sign in. Got more than a few belly laughs from that one.

    First this one story...

I'd recommend Metamorphosis, Modest Proposal or Diary of a Madman. These are all pretty inspirational. Well, no... Metamorphosis is not so much inspirational as soul-crushing. Still funny satire though.

    Edit:
Metamorphosis:Kafka representing shty industrial era culture by turning a guy into a cockroach
Modest Proposal: Swift representing British oppression of Ireland by giving recipes for cooking babies
Diary of a Madman: Lu Xun representing China's oppression of the people in a diary about his cannibal culture, detailing how everyone wants to eat him.

These are all easy to find short stories btw.
